Plesiosaur Skull Reconstruction.
Commissioned piece - South Australian Museum

'Umoonasaurus demoscyllus is a new small-bodied (~2m) pliosauroid plesiosaur from the Lower Cretaceous of southern Australia. It is represented by several partial skeletons (one with a near complete skull is the most complete opalized vertebrate fossil yet known), and is unique in having large crests on the skull midline and above the orbits'

That's really gorgeous, and what little tongues they have! The colouring was done really well :)
WOW - Josh that is AMAZING. I have seen heaps of people attempt to re create the Plesiosaur but this is the most amazing one I have seen.

Is everyone at the museum heaps happy with it?
:fear: Scary creature!!!! Great detail Josh!!

he he - thats what the text says :D
Obviously little it known about plesiosaur feeding habits or indeed the mechanics of their mouth. Some palaeontologists believe they have a similar system to crocodile - with muscles that closed the throat off. I just further emblished this design having a tongue extension :)
